My Students

We have 72% receiving free and reduced price lunch and many of our kids struggle with extreme poverty.

Our building was built in the early 60's and has not been updated since.

The facilities are lacking many basic aspects of a functioning theater. Many Theater students specifically come to the performing arts as an outlet, a way of escape. Our program provides opportunities for students to be featured on stage and gives them a new way to confidently approach all of the challenges in their life.

My Project

Seeing Live Theatre is the single greatest way to build a theatrical imagination. By bringing this visit to our school we will do two things at the same time. This show will build social studies schema while we also make young actors aware of possible careers in professional theatre.

If we are able to do both of these things we will be improving the theatre program and the content knowledge of our students simultaneously.

This musical will be educational and entertaining. It will make our students think of learning and performing as the complementary processes that they actually are in the real world.
