This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hi! My name is Ms. Goff, and I am a first-year teacher! This year, I am teaching second grade at a Title 1 school that serves a community of primarily Spanish-speaking students. Many of my students and their families have immigrated to the United States from Spanish-speaking countries. I want my classroom to be a welcoming space that makes them feel safe and supported, especially as they adjust to a new country and language. My goal is to create a learning environment that is accepting, engaging, and literacy rich. However, because it is my first year, I am lacking many resources that could help me better support my students. In addition. My students need basic supplies such as markers and pencils. We need a mobile organizer so students can access the supplies they need throughout the day. We need books, a sensory lamp, and floor cushions for our reading space. Please help me be the best first-year teacher to my wonderful second-grade students! Anything at all will help me help them!
