This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The last two weeks at CCPA are spent in a special post session, where students get to experience things they normally wouldn't do. This year, three staff members are hosting an Urban Sketching experience! Our students will travel with us around our local communities and draw what we see! We plan to visit a lake, a few museums, the University, Chinatown, and some parks. We will also visit murals and see what other artists have done.

At the end of the 2 weeks, students will display what they have done to the rest of the CCPA community and develop a final project based upon their sketches.

This is a great opportunity for kids to visit places they have never seen before, as well as learn and practice creative ways to interpret the world around them. Our students are looking forward to getting out of the classroom and experiencing our local community and expressing themselves creatively all we need are these sketch pads, pencils and erasers.
