This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Second graders are heading into the second quarter of the school year, and they are really rocking it! Using a combination of direct instruction, group work, small group rotations, and technology centers has really allowed the students in our classroom to open up and learn new things each day. Recently, we were able to switch devices with another classroom in our building. We sent our laptops and Chromebooks upstairs to the older students in exchange for more grade-appropriate iPads for our classroom. Using iPads are easier and more effective for us students in second grade, and we have been able to make great progress on our skills and abilities.

Having devices really allows us to have access to fantastic applications and programs such as iReady, Epic, RAZ-Kids, LitNerd, ReadTheory, Waggle and so much more.

These applications allow for students in second grade to expand on their skills and abilities, practice what they already know, and continue to move forward and fill their brains with knowledge. It prepares them to be digital learners in this age of increasing need for technology. However, the iPads we have in our classroom are lacking the additional resources we need to be successful. We are asking for cases for our iPads, in case they ever slip out of our fingers (which happens often!), keyboards for our students who need to type their work, and more headphones for our devices. Please consider donating to our classroom today, so we can continue learning and growing in second grade!
