My students are in charge of building the yearbook. This includes designing pages and sidebars, writing captions, and covering school events. We cannot cover or write about events if we don't have pictures to go with them. In fact, pictures are often the first thing that students notice!
The yearbook is something every student looks through, even if they don't purchase one.
In order to give students an authentic experience in journalism and photography, I need the proper equipment. With this camera, students can cover more events, get quality pictures, and make a killer yearbook that represents the entire school.
With this camera, students this year, and in future years, will have the necessary materials to make continually great yearbooks. The students in my class come from a multitude of different backgrounds and being on the team that creates the yearbook is unique. The current equipment is outdated and often faulty and I don't want my students to be held back by that. I want students to be proud of the product they make and the pictures they take.
