Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The calming and mindful classroom allows students to incorporate mindfulness activities into daily routines, to develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and stress reduction skills which are foundational for academic success and overall well-being.

A Little Spot of Feelings and Plushies are a great way to start the class morning meeting and check in to see how each child is feeling.

Singing bowls are a great way for young children to practice meditation and mindfulness. Using bowls with voice to make sounds is a great way for kids to express their emotions and transform them. This practice helps bring inner peace into the body's cells and to feel calm.

Rainsticks are versatile instruments in sound healing, offering a range of therapeutic benefits for relaxation and stress reduction, mood enhancement, and grounding. The calming sound of a rainstick can help alleviate stress and tension. Incorporating rainsticks into guided relaxation sessions or meditation can enhance the overall sense of calm. Their gentle soundscapes offer a serene backdrop for relaxation, meditation, and therapeutic exploration.

Ocean drums are fun, engaging, and offer therapeutic value. They help support gross motor skills, focus, concentration, impulse control, and self-regulation.

Engaging students in mindfulness activities such as deep breathing exercises, body scans, mindful movement, and guided visualizations, help students cultivate present-moment awareness, concentration, and relaxation, promoting a positive and supportive classroom environment learning through sounds.

Offering ongoing support and resources for teachers and students ensures the sustainability and success of mindfulness initiatives in the classroom.

The goals for this project are to:

Cultivate a culture of mindfulness and well-being in the classroom.

Promote students' social-emotional learning, resilience, and mental health.

Improve students' ability to focus, concentrate, and manage stress effectively.
