Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We haven't started the 2016-2017 school year at this time, and so I will talk about my students in general. They are overall great students who are eager to learn. They enjoy science lessons and yet struggle with reading and mathematics. They are inquisitive, smart, and fun to be around.

The students at my school live in a high poverty area.

Last year the school was 100% free lunch because of the low income. The school is located in a Hispanic neighborhood with a large subsidized housing area.

My Project

By using a variety of genre's and titles, I hope to expand the reading interests of my classroom. I already have several types of books for use but would like to include mysteries to my list. This book was one that my children enjoyed and I want to pass that on to current students.

I would like a set of books that the students can use to follow along as we read through this novel as a group.

After the end of the book, the students will return the book for use in 2 other classrooms. These will hopefully last many years so multiple academic years will be able to use these.
