Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first-grade teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district in the South Bronx. My class is filled with vibrant, eager learners who require a variety of ways to learn. About seventy-five percent of my students are performing below grade level. Many of my students live in shelters, receive out-of-classroom services for speech, reading, and math, and are English language learners or have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).

My students face many challenges each day and deserve nothing short of the best to help them reach their full potential and beyond.

For many of them, I am the only comfort, security, and positive source in their life. I want to make my students feel welcomed, appreciated, loved, and know that they can do anything they put their minds to!

My Project

I am requesting gift cards to help motivate our students to READ everyday. We want to celebrate them and motivate them to become excellent readers. We want to get our students back on track with reading, improving their fluency and stamina. Reading is very important and a part of all their subjects.

I would like to provide gift cards to my students to encourage them to read everyday.

Despite the instructional time that has been missed during past year, we want our students to know that they are loved, smart, and important. These gift cards will be help to motivate our students to read more and to do their best.
