This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A normal day in our room is filled with active 3rd graders. They are seeking to find fulfillment in academics. The end goal for these students is to find a LOVE and escape from reality in their school work!
The majority of the students in my classroom come from single family, low socio-economic homes.
Although their schema and ability to make personal life connections is lower, these students have hearts of gold. They genuinely care about each other, and work hard to help each other improve daily. Our school strives to make the time that the students spend in the building or at various functions, the happiest times they have. Not only do we strive for lasting memories, we strive for excellence in our academics.
My Project
We recently had a fire in my elementary school building. There was little structural damage. However, there was a lot of smoke/soot and water damage throughout the building. The fire involved chemicals being stored in a janitor's closet. We were temporarily been relocated during the cleaning and repairing of the school building. The company that was cleaning our building said that all paper products had to be thrown away along with any items sitting in the open on shelves due to chemicals being involved in the fire. Therefore, we lost all books.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
