Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school currently has multiple large sets of Vernier probes. Everything from O2 and CO2 sensors, spectrometers, pH and temperature meters, pressure sensors and the list goes on. Our old, outdated interfaces no longer work or can be serviced. We have Chrome books available and new interfaces would allow us to use the sensors we already have in all of our science classes. I have personally used vernier equipment to gather data in the high school classroom for over 15 years and I would like to train others in my department and integrate data gathering and analysis in all the science classes. We already have hands on labs that would incorporate the probes into multiple science subjects. Our student population is an almost entirely low income minority population. This would be a game changer for our students in STEM. Words cannot express what a difference this would make for not just my personal Biology classes, but for our entire Science department.
