Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all unique learners with the same end goal, to succeed. I want my students despite their special accommodations to reach their fullest potential and I believe these materials will help them do so. I am a special education teacher in a first grade ICT classroom. Over the past few months I have noticed that the students struggling with fine and gross motor skills, ADHD, dyslexia, and emotional anxiety would greatly benefit from additional resources in the classroom. One of the ICT models, parallel teaching, would be very successful in this particular setting. However, we only have one white board in the room. If we are able to raise enough to purchase an additional whiteboard easel all of the students would benefit as they will be able to better see the visuals, practice making words, use magnetic manipulatives, enhance their math skills etc. through STEAM challenges and more.

This will really help my students regain their confidence in the classroom.

If you believe you can, you will. I believe in my students and I want more than anything for them to be provided with not only love and support but also the tools necessary to succeed.

My Project

The materials needed include a white board, containers, and hands on STEAM manipulatives to promote innovation, creativity, and engineering practices within the classroom. As a special education teacher it is so important to give all of the students an equal opportunity to achieve success. By providing them with an additional white board, visuals, and hands on manipulatives to learn from will only continue to promote success.

STEAM is not just a thing of the future, it is also for the NOW.

By providing my students with an opportunity to better see the board in a small group setting, as well as fun and engaging engineering design blocks will only continue to motivate them to learn and stay excited about school. We want our children to become excited about the jobs that most would be nervous to even think about. By getting the students excited now about building and design, the opportunities for the future are limitless.
