This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In this unit, students will dive deeper into economics by studying logos, color psychology, symbols, and branding utilizing surveys and consumer feedback. Students will be challenged in this fashion merchandising unit to design their own logo for a brand that represents who they are. They will then produce a wearable product showcasing their brand. Each student will be learning about choosing a product to upcycle. This unit will propel students into current marketing trends as they also conduct consumer surveys. We have pre-owned jeans, jean jackets, skirts, purses, shoes, etc. Their lesson will be to research the financial education of operating a modern-day fashion business. (such as custom-designed jeans or shoes) and personalize their product utilizing best-practice economic concepts, creative art, money management and budget management

Once students become the expert in their field, they will continue to upcycle more pre-owned clothing to give it a new life and sell it in our classroom store.

Students will utilize a business plan, compare cost vs value, and track the sales of their individual branded items. Budget management and money management lessons they will learn are about selling at a profit to continue their financial suggest. They must manage their inventory of multiple appliqués and supplies. Students will use the vinyl, cricut supplies, stencils, sublimation paper and airbrush to transfer their artwork onto a wearable item such as jeans, a hat, or jacket. The heat gun will ensure that student's artwork will adhere to the fabric and withstand wear and washing. The resin supplies, mixer, poms, extension cords, and molds will be utilized to create accessories to support and elevate their brand. Students will need the pegboards to add to the surface area of our storefront where their products will be sold.
