My Students

Look what I created! Where should I put it now? This project provides an answer to this question and allows students to create several wonderful artistic portfolios.

The first word I think of when asked about my students is pride.

They take pride in their work, their learning, and their accomplishments. They are willing to put the time in to do a good job, and I want them to have a place to showcase this hard work and effort.

My Project

I want my students to know that artistic expression can take many forms. It can be a drawing you create, something you write, or a digital image you have manipulated. I want my students to have the opportunity to play around with all three of these ideas and therefore I have asked for 3 class sets of blank books as well as watercolors and pastels. The blank books will be used as final portfolios. One book will house their artwork done in various mediums. One book will be for their written word, which they will then illustrate. For the last book, we are fortunate enough to have digital cameras in the classroom and so they will take pictures through the year and then create a memory book. By the end of the year my students will have 3 portfolios to take home with them and will be able to proudly share their accomplishments with friends and family.

Artistic expression is important and should be valued.

I am hoping that with the help of the Disneyland CREATE grant and other generous donors that I can give my students materials to work with and a place to showcase their hard work.
