This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every year as the highlight of our Space Unit, my students build and launch rockets. The excitement is evident and the students work hard to create them. I want my students to feel that they can reach the stars and as Albert Einstein said: "Creativity is intelligence having fun."

My students belong to a low-income community in Houston, Texas.

They are amazing children whose parents work really hard to make their lives a little easier. My students love creating and working together. They find a way to make everyday experience a remarkable experience.

My Project

My students need 20 safety glasses, glue, markers and LOTS of fancy duct tape to make fabulous rockets. After giving various examples of space exploration vehicles and jet propulsion, the students will have the opportunity to build a rocket demonstrating their creativity and engineering skills. They will then evaluate the results and complete a laboratory report about this experience. This is the concluding activity of our Space Unit.

This projects gives my student an opportunity to design, build and launch their own rockets.

This opportunity also allows them to feel pride of what they can do. It is also an opportunity to enhance and showcase STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum in the classroom.
