My Students

I teach a wonderful group of 2nd graders. They are determined, responsible, motivated to learn and always have a positive attitude.

All my students are English language learners.

I cherish the thought of being involved in every student’s learning process. As a former ESL student, I have a great understanding of the struggles my students are facing, not just linguistically but also socially and emotionally. I work hard to create a classroom where students learn to respect and embrace the differences between us.

My Project

Handwriting and letter formation are very important for students’ literacy acquisition, especially English language learners. When students write letters, they learn them more effectively.

The materials I chose will allow my students to practice proper pen grasp, letter formation, legibility, and pacing.

I plan on using the materials daily, during centers.

School days are packed with instructional priorities, and it can be easy to let handwriting fall by the wayside. However, with just a few minutes a day, students’ letter formation skills can improve, leading to positive outcomes for overall literacy development.
