Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My pre-school students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny San Pedro, California. The children from San Pedro come to school each morning ready to learn and grow. There's never a dull moment in our class; my students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. We need instructional materials in our classroom to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.

My Project

To support their artistic journey, my students will use the shimmer shapes, glitter pom poms, glitter shapes and construction paper as choices for them to gather to use as they create their art masterpieces. As they engage with the art materials, my students will be practicing critical thinking skills by making a mental plan or picture of what they intend to create and following through on their plan. To support the development of drawing expression, my students will be using the people colors-jumbo colored markers, kwik-stix tempera painters and Jumbo tempera painters. With these tools, they will be grasping and fostering fine motor development, which is a precursor to writing skills.

With The Three Little Pigs Storytelling Puppet Set and The Big Mouth Animal Puppet, my students will be able to develop creating stories, fostering language, problem solving and dramatic play skills.
