My Students

California's students face one of the biggest challenges in education: lack of funding. Our Photography program does not receive any funding from the school or the district. All of our funding comes from parent donations and the rare grant. We are hoping Donorschoose.org can help too!

Our High School is in California in a quiet community in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Many years ago Prop 13 classified our school district as a "rural" district. Consequently,our district does not receive as much funding as from the state as it should. Since that time the community has become accustomed to relying on itself for funding education. We do our best to pass bond measures and parcel taxes.

My Project

The Photography program draws students who are not afraid of a challenge. They learn about traditional black and white photography with a classic darkroom experience. The biggest challenge we face in this program is to keep it supplied with all the consumable materials B&W photography requires as well as replace broken equipment.

A flatbed scanner will not only allow students to save their photographs in a digital format but will also give them an introduction into the world of digital imaging by utilizing specific technology.
