Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a diverse and high poverty population. They are hardworking and enthusiastic about learning. Every day, they come to school despite hardships and engage in rigorous instruction. Our students take pride in our school. We are their extended family, and they count on us to educate and guide them every day. We have a large group of immigrant students. They are in our classrooms with little or no English skills. Despite their struggles, we perform at a high level.

My Project

This project will be used for professional development for our staff. I will conduct an online book study to discuss these mindsets to help our staff understand and reach their students this school year. Every year we start the new school year rejuvenating and ready to tackle whatever the year brings. This project will help familiarize teachers on how to approach teaching social emotional learning with their students so they are prepared to deal with any emotional struggles their students may have.

The 7 Mindsets book will help support social-emotional learning in the classrooms.

These key approaches represent critical professional development for teachers in light of social-emotional learning.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart to give this wonderful opportunity to teachers who are in front of our students every day.
