My Project

My school is offering Environmental Science as an elective this year. My students will be excited for hands-on activities!

This Inquiries in Science: Testing Water Pollution refill kit and multi-class equipment set will introduce my students to water pollution and the issues surrounding it.

Students will be actively engaged in investigating water pollutants in the area. They will learn about the sources and the impacts of these pollutants, gaining valuable knowledge for their future. After guided activities, students will design and conduct their own experiments to investigate the effects of pollutants on the environment. The water distiller will be used for this activity and others, reducing our need to buy distilled water. Weed killer, detergents, and bleach will be used as water pollutants and yeast as representative organisms in their experiments. Centrifuge tubes will be used for allocation of materials. Students will perform serial dilution to learn about ppm and ppb concentrations, explore local sources of water pollution, and develop solutions.
