My Project

My project will give my students a much better appreciation of field research. We will have guest speakers from local university marine biology programs talking about current developments in the area of ocean research. I propose to take a trip to one of the most notable aquariums in our area. Adjacent to the aquarium is an area that is well known as a tidepool area. We will study current techniques in field research with equipment that you are supplying when this grant is funded. We will become part of the solution by creating a Public Service Announcement display that we hope to show in a local public space. I have also partnered with a local community college to borrow some of the more expensive research equipment. I hope to build on these experiences and create a multi-year experience for a cadre of marine biology students.

This project will give the students a first-hand look at the importance of field research.

They will leave as informed citizens with a better appreciation of a topic that has worldwide ramifications.
