My Project

Thank you for taking the time to review my project proposal. I teach Honors Physics in Venice, CA, and am hoping for help equipping my five classes with a class set of Tesla Coils, plus class sets of LED and neon bulbs. The bulbs will allow students to examine the varying strength of the electric field as distance from the coil changes.

Tesla coils incorporate a transformer, capacitor, spark gap, and tuned resonant transformer, all of which are important and interesting electrical components.

I'm excited to give students a chance to explore something most of them have never seen, but have often used. Many have used a wireless charging pad for charging a smartwatch or phone, and there are solid connections between that technology and the wireless power distribution of the Tesla Coil.
