Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Working in the after school program can be quite taxing, but with proper structure, it can also be so enjoyable. I want to make my elementary after school program more of the latter, and your generosity can make that happen. I am building a treasure box that will be the envy of all treasure boxes for hard-working elementary students that are staying after school to catch up.

Creating a treasure box full of exciting prizes and snacks will be a perfect incentive for students to be kind, respectful, and productive after school.

Many of my students did not choose to stay after school, rather they were recommended. If a student is behind due to specific learning challenges or sometimes unexpected gaps in learning or attendance, they are recommended to our after school program for additional support. This can make the school day feel long.

My goal is to make the extra school time exciting and fun whenever possible. Students earn points, which serve as a type of currency, through exhibiting exemplary behavior. Our school 5 are Mindset, Accountability, Teamwork, and Respect; and if they are caught doing the right thing, they get "paid" points. Your donation can help create a prize and snack store the likes these students have never seen!
