Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all native Spanish speakers that are enrolled in a One-Way Dual Language Program. This means that we learn English Language Arts and Math in English, and Native Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies in Spanish. Our program is committed to helping our students to become both bilingual and biliterate.

My students are unique individuals that come together to create a masterpiece.

My students are creative, thoughtful, and energized by learning! They are scientists, authors, and the leaders of tomorrow.

All of my students receive free lunch, breakfast, and a snack at school. The childhood poverty rate in our district is among the highest in the state and many of my students face challenges with hunger and unstable housing. Despite these challenges, my students and their families are highly involved in our school community and we continue to work together to ensure the success of our students.

My Project

I am requesting a charging port for our classroom iPads and a technology tub to store and charge our classroom Chromebooks. These additions to our classroom will positively impact how students utilize technology on a daily basis.

The benefit of these storage solutions is twofold.

First, these materials will enable students to easily organize our classroom materials in a way that is manageable for second graders. Second, these solutions allow for the easy and convenient charging of our classroom technology. Technology is only an asset if it is fully functioning which includes being charged. With these additions to our classroom, we will be able to effectively use technology without losing time due to transition, or lost time due to items being dead or low on battery.
