My Students

The students that I work with come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Our school is a kindergarten through 8th grade, NYC public school where students with language learning and motor impairments are integrated into a general education classroom setting. Children have different learning styles and a multi-modal project based approach is emphasized.

As a speech therapist, my role is to not only help children improve their speech and language skills, but to aid students in becoming contributing members of their classroom community and to successfully access their curriculum.

My Project

These materials will help to make a difference in my students' learning. My students need adaptive tables that support their participation in all of the various activities in school. These tables help the students to participate in table-top activities by using dry erase markers on the table. They are able to write as big as they need and reach the table. Additionally, the dry erase tables are able to be moved up or down in order to accommodate the students who have different seating needs (e.g., wheelchairs of different sizes or students of different ages). Adaptive tables will promote inclusive education and access to the curriculum.
