Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a public Kindergarten through eighth-grade school in a high-poverty, urban community in New Jersey. They love music class and are great musicians. Even though we don't have a budget for new materials, we find creative ways to make music together.

One of my favorite things to do with my students is to read them stories that explore different types of music and culture.

They love to be read to and it is such a great way to bring the world to them.

My Project

Children love to learn through stories and my students are no exception. If we receive these books, my students will get to have so many more adventures in their own classroom as they learn about jazz, classical, and rock n roll music.

These books would give my students an opportunity to learn about different musicians and styles of music all while seeing beautiful illustrations.

They will reinforce the lessons I teach on various musical subjects by offering the students a visual representation of the music they are studying. It will enrich their music education as well as deepen their overall understanding of the world.
