This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching about 400 students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade remotely in art education. My school (a Title I school in Brooklyn) was fortunate to become a Magnet school for communication and mixed media arts. Teaching art has become an important part of our every day instruction, and although I am teaching remote this year due to Covid-19, I still work hard to deliver quality art education to my students.

My Project

I am currently teaching art remotely on my laptop and holding up a paper on a clipboard while I draw. This can be challenging when trying to demonstrate how to draw something or how to do a certain art technique. Having a document camera would alleviate a lot of the disconnect between me and my students when giving an art lesson.

To have the ability for every student to see me draw and create live demonstrations would be a life saver.

It will help me to show off the materials for a project and demonstrate the correct way to use them. It would also be helpful in order to display, analyze, and critique famous artwork and student artwork.
