My Students

My students are amazing! They are eager to learn and participate in new activities; however, lack of experiences and materials will hold them back. They will be learning speech remotely and I need a headset so that they can hear me more clearly.

My students are five to fourteen years old but are all functioning on preschool level academically.

All of my students have limited social skills and have significant language deficit in expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language skills. My students are often frustrated because they cannot communicate their needs and wants. Many times they struggle to keep up with the other students because they do not speak and cannot participate in the same ways. I work tremendously hard to expose them to as many experiences within my means; however, this is getting harder and harder.

My students are diagnosed with intellectual disability and autism. They learn and respond positively to curriculum that is visual, kinesthetic and allows them to practice their skills repeatedly.

My Project

This year, my students will be participating in Speech Therapy remotely, which means they will be on their computers at home and I will be on mine at my home.

A bluetooth headset with microphone will allow my students to hear my voice without any background noise and will help me to hear them clearly to help them shape their sounds.

I am also requesting notepads to be able to take notes during instruction, a foot rest to help with the strain of sitting for many hours a day and a desk pad to cover my desk.
