Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Since the opening of the school in 2006, we have grown as a community all with the goal of supporting these young people to live to their fullest potential, including a post-secondary plan.

Our students are the pride and joy of the community.

Faced with adversity these students are resilient and move forward to not only improve their lives but those around them too. They continue to makes us proud by continuing their education, serving our country, and giving back.

My Project

I have been teaching for 25 years, and have been using these highly engaging news magazines for the past 13 years or so, consistently with the exception of a few times when funding was not readily available.

These magazines are engaging and written just for teens with stories about the United States and world events that matter to them.

These magazines also have a digital component that has videos and activities that are riveting and bring stories to life. The digital editions that accompany a subscription also allow for multiple reading levels for easy differentiation and help those students who are English language learners too.
