My Students

Each day, second graders depend on me to teach them how to read, write, and develop critical thinking skills that will be the foundation of their education. These students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I feel it is my role to provide them with rich learning experiences on a day to day basis.

Each day, my students get on zoom excited and ready to learn.

I wish I could hug all of them in person but that's not our reality this school year. Half of our students will be returning in person but I will teach the virtual students. We will be continuing virtual learning through the end of the 2020/2021 school year at least. I am going from teaching 20 students virtually to 40 students. Now I need to make some improvements for this semi-permanent way to teach and learn.

My Project

I will be the second grade virtual reading teacher for the remainder of the school year. I have doubled my number of virtual students because half the students will be going back in person. The other three second grade reading teachers will be in person as well. Therefore I will be taking students from all four of our second grade classes that wish to remain virtual to total forty students.

My students deserve to be seen, heard, and be able to access engaging videos without a lag.

I am asking for a eero to help with internet lag. I show videos during lessons and we experience many delays, which wastes precious time. The eero mesh WiFi system has worked well for other virtual teachers and created a smooth lesson. The other item I'm asking for is a second screen which will allow me to see the students and my lesson plans at the same time. It's important for me to be able to see all their faces and give each one a chance to have their voice be heard.
