Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th grade students are a wonderful group of children living in low income. high crime, community in Los Angeles, California. Every student in my class is a hard worker and always try their best. Thus, they all need the be provided with the best academic instruction and tools possible.

My students attend a school that is situated inside a low income, high crime community.

My school and I have a mission of educating all students to be college and career ready and that possess the 21st century skill needed to be successful in life. My students are English learners living in this community, trying to make the best of it all. They also have special needs such as learning disabilities, and speech and hearing deficits. Although, they are faced with difficult challenges to overcome, they continue to be optimistic and motivated to do their best. Thus, they deserve the best.

My Project

Having an iPad as a resource would be very beneficial to my students. I plan to use it as a learning tool through which I can download educational applications for my students to use. Most of my students are struggling readers, writers, and mathematicians. I plan to download applications that will allow them to learn to read, write, and do math, in a more fun, creative, interesting way. The iPad will be used as a reteach. reinforcement, and enrichment tool for them in these areas.

Having an iPad as a learning tool would definitely change my students' life for the better.

After practicing and learning using the downloaded educational applications, my students would be better readers, writers and mathematicians. This will raise their self-confidence, would be better prepared for their next grade levels, and overall allow them to stay in school and achieve a higher education, which will provide them with a more positive future than what they are facing now.
