Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our hard working high school students of English language learning (ELL) need time, support, and access to technology in order to succeed in their general education classes.

My students of ELL come to my support hour with incomplete research projects or homework and need access to a computer in order to further their understanding of certain topics, continue to research a specific topic, and/or type various papers and reports in the format required by their content area teachers. On a daily basis, however, an average of twelve students need to use a computer and I only have two outdated PCs in my room.

An Asus Eee PC will be of great benefit to my students of ELL. It is a vehicle that will allow students to increase their understanding of the academic content they are learning in their core general education classes. On the Asus PC they will be able to access interactive learning sites on the web to further their understanding of subjects such as DNA transcription and translation in biology. They will also be able to bring in their work from other classes on a flash drive and continue to work on a project in my classroom.

The Asus EeePC is small, portable, and affordable. Having one in my classroom would allow many of my ELL students the time and support they need to succeed on whatever academic project they are working on. Helping students succeed, brings them closer to their dreams, and when students reach for their dreams the community is enriched.
