My Students

I work with an amazing group of resilient, funny, and engaging students ranging from Pre-K through 8th grade. Many of my students receive special education services. Most come from a community that is equally as amazing and resilient, but struggles with the typical challenges of any underserved neighborhood. Our kids come from mixed family systems of all types, shapes, and sizes.

The students who come through my door are referred for behavioral and mental health concerns, including ADHD, anger outbursts, anxiety, depression, abuse, and severe trauma histories.

I use a variety of evidence-based methods to provide clinical treatment in order to improve both academic progress and overall well-being. Part of my interventions include providing students with the skills and tools that they need to be successful in the classroom.

My Project

As a play therapist who thrives on interaction, remote learning was certainly a challenge! Moving play therapy to an online medium was difficult, but also incredibly useful and rewarding for many of our kids and something that will need to be maintained as we navigate in-person play therapy from a distance.

As we transition back to school, many of the online games, videos, and other interventions I've been using while remote will need to continue.

My office is small, and I would not be able to maintain any distance from the kids at my office desktop. I am asking for an iPad in order to be able to continue in person play therapy interventions while maintaining a safe distance within a smaller space. This will allow me to engage students by sharing therapy materials, worksheets, videos, and games from my computer onto the iPad, allowing us to sit apart while still working together.
