Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a young educator, my passion has always been and always will be education. As I get further into my career, it has become evident that I need to affect change at a higher level.

To be able to create and make a bigger impact, I need to further my education.

Of course, as a 4th grade teacher, budgeting has never been tighter. My current laptop is from 2014 and the battery is outdated. It makes it incapable of working on the go and working on projects for longer periods of time.

Additionally, it is important that I am still providing a quality education to my students. As a DOE teacher, I have options to take courses to further my education, and as a result, place a teacher in front of students who is more knowledgeable and capable of teaching them. Without a computer that can last a long arduous day, access to these advantageous projects becomes near impossible.

Our world is moving in a direction where the education gap is widening. This implores me to think about how I can make a deeper impact. I'd like to explore history research, documentary filmmaking, and content creation. I can use this knowledge to provide students with project-based learning opportunities that can deepen their learning by exploring several topics. Some of these projects for students include podcasting, performances, and diverse presentations that require extensive research.

Attaining a reliable device where I can work my full-time role as an elementary school educator, while also being able to take academic courses will be imperative. I thank you in advance for your donation and for believing in the power of education. I thank you for believing in my passion to make this world we live in a little better than I leave it.
