My Students

Every day my co-teacher and I strive to create an environment where students love to come to school, feel good about themselves and are excited to learn.

We sing, we dance and we laugh. It is so important to us that we provide our students with the tools they need to find success not only in the classroom but in the world. Our students are fun, kind, creative and enthusiastic individuals.

Our classroom is a 5th grade ICT (Integrated Cooperative Teaching) classroom. In an ICT classroom, there are two teachers, one general education teacher and one special education teacher. It is made up of 29 amazingly unique students, 19 are general education students while 10 of them have IEP’s (Individual Educational Plans) to help them find academic success through various accommodations and modifications. Our school is located in a diverse community in Brooklyn called Starret City, found in East New York.

My Project

In education, technology can be a life-changer, a game-changer, for kids in school. The Amazon Fire Tablets are tools, that we believe, have the ability to motivate students to learn. The educational games that students can utilize on the tablets are fun and engaging and provide students with the ability to learn independently or with a classmate.

We plan to use the Amazon Fire Tablets during center time in math and reading.

Students can work independently or with a partner practicing and reinforcing various skills and concepts that they struggle with. Students can also use tablets for enrichment.
