Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Special Education teacher in New York City. Many of the students in my school are diagnosed with severe Autism and are in the most restrictive learning environment. There are many students who also require health and behavioral para professionals to assist them in completing basic human functions like feeding and diapering in addition to being a huge influence in their learning program.

When providing rigorous curriculum, despite their disabilities, each and everyone of my students rises to the challenge and exceeds not only my expectations, but also their own.

My students are passionate about Spongebob Squarepants, music and dancing, snack foods, and play time in the playground.

My Project

All of my students have severe Autism, and most of my students are non-verbal or have very limited verbal language, and it is my responsibility to work everyday to help these students build communication systems that are accessible to them, and that they can utilize in and out of the classroom. I am requesting two iPads and two Indignia DVD players.

These technology items will help expose my students to the community and environment around them.

They will also be offered as rewards when students complete their educational tasks and activities. I sincerely appreciate your help in making this happen and know that my students will appreciate your help as well.
