My Students

As a teacher, I want my students to learn and appreciate art and its history. Art is a subject worth knowing. I want my students to come away from class with a better understanding of the many forms art can encompass, whether it be drawing, painting, found objects, printmaking, etc., as well as the many new, non-conventional ways of art making.

As a teacher, I want to challenge my students to become independent, objective thinkers.

I want them to be able to look at a piece of artwork and form their own opinions and critical analysis’ of the piece. My students visit the art room weekly for their chance to explore and experiment with many different forms of art and artistic expression.

The community of students that visit the art room have a strong desire and need for hands-on art learning. Art is a way of connectioning to all different ethnic and economic backgrounds. In my class, students should have that opportunity to express and learn about themselves and other students. Art can help them share and experience the world around them.

My Project

My students have been craving the opportunity to include technology through print into their artwork. Color printing will enhance the integration of print media and text with their creative artwork. Print and media integration directly align with the benchmarks in the blueprints for the arts curriculum I use in my classroom.

I am introducing the world of art curating to my students through installation art and exhibition art.

These materials will assist them in understanding what is required to become an art curator.

I believe exposing my students to all aspects of the visual arts helps them to become well rounded artist and art appreciators.
