My Students

My classroom is full of explorers, artists, historians, scientists, mathematicians, authors and entrepreneurs. Daily we set out to create new worlds, seek new adventures, experience failures and find success in the smallest of corners. We seek to learn.

I can describe my students in one word; captivating.

They have captivated me since day one. They have pushed me to be a better educator and learner. Constantly I am challenging myself to be better and work harder because I want them to experience education as it was meant to be. We are a K-8 year round school in the heart of Southern California. We benefit from having a great staff full of engaging educators who always put the needs of the students first.

My Project

Students will use the iPad minis to both research all subject areas and to virtually experience new facets of education through the technology. They will create movies sharing their knowledge of cells and the human body. They'll practice math facts through various apps. Words will come to life through partner games of scrabble and art will take on new meaning when you can send the picture directly to your parent. Portfolios will be managed and developed on the iPads, thus creating a way for students to take a snapshot of their 5th grade year. We'll will be able to assess in reading and develop our writing through research. The possibilities are truly endless.

We are asking for more devices for our classroom.

Students benefit from having technology in the classroom at all times. Unfortunately the cost of technology makes it very difficult for some schools to adopt a one to one policy. We currently have a "Bring Your Own Device" policy and this often leaves many students without a device in learning situations. The goal of this project is to bring iPad mini's to our classroom in order to allow students to experience a more unique take on learning.
