Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach English to sixth grade students in a difficult inner-city environment. My students are enthusiastic about computers and motivated by technology and professional-looking products. However, the students suffer because our school lacks in technology and supplies.

Currently I have five working computers in my classroom, but no printer. I want students to publish high-level stories and essays, but I do not have a method to print final copies. Students love to see their work looking typed and clean.

An all-in-one printer/scanner/copier would allow my students to print their work. I could also then scan it and copy it to share with the class. I know students would work harder if they knew their work could be saved and distributed easily. If I can copy samples of their work and teach lessons based off those examples, students will connect to and understand my lessons more easily. This will translate to a real improvement in their writing. It will also help me to create displays of their work that they can take pride in and want to share with the community.

Your assistance will make it possible for my students to use technology in a more meaningful way in the classroom. Access to a printer/scanner/copier will help my students to create more pleasing and polished work that can be more easily shared.
