My Students

My students are a part of the Academy of Finance which prepares students to become college, career, and future-ready. Although my students are highly motivated, ambitious, and hard-working, they come from low-income households. Their economic background makes obtaining resources difficult. Regardless of their hardships they still bring an eagerness to learn and seek new knowledge. My students have a range of learning capabilities and as their teacher, I would like to foster their unique talents.

My students are always excited about learning!

However, due to these trying times, we will start school virtually. Before the pandemic, my students were very hands-on and had a work-based learning environment. Since I will not be able to see my students face to face; I will need all the technology needed to provide them with a similar experience they would have had in the classroom. I want to be able to provide them with everything they need to make this a smooth transition for them. We are a STEAM/STEM school that requires a cross-curriculum environment that I will like to continue to uphold even through virtual learning.

My Project

Instructional technology is really going to be critical at this time because we will be online and it will continue to help students grow academically. This means we will need good equipment, robust computers, and items needed to make sure they run appropriately. Items like a computer monitor stand, power surge, USBs, and etc. will help improve student engagement, improve knowledge retention, encourage individual learning and collaboration. My students love technology and having these items will show great improvement in class productivity. These materials will be used to support both teaching and learning and will help expand course offerings. The monitor stand will make it easier for the teacher to share information and assess the student’s understanding. The power surge will be used to charge all the technology such as the computers to help with presenting daily lessons. The USB’s will allow for enough storage space to save lesson plans and student work. All of these items will truly make a great difference in my students transitioning well into the virtual learning experience.
