My Students

I am a Special Education Teacher working in the NEST Program. The NEST program is a unique program that works with students with Autism. This program is designed to integrate children with Autism into the general education environment.

NEST students are integrated into a cooperative learning environment.

The class consists of two trained teachers, a content specialist and a special education teacher, to work with both the NEST students and general education students.

The children in the NEST Program are unique and so are their learning styles. They are able to process information and present it in different ways. The NEST Program was designed to provide an equal learning experience to the NEST students as they would in a general education environment.

My Project

Covid-19 and the transition to remote learning has been difficult for all students. Math has been especially challenging for teachers and students. This iPad and pen will allow to work through difficult Algebra questions with my class and prepare them for their Algebra Regents.

Technology makes remote math lessons possible.

It allows the students to see all the steps of the problems just like they would in the classroom. It is difficult to type equations on the computer and the iPad and pen make it possible to utilize the most time teaching students and not to typing problems.
