My Students

My students come to school daily with learning on the brain. They are excited and ready to take on the day’s new challenges. They truly believe that learning is everything and that it is imperative for their future success. I want to equip my students with the technology needed to be the innovative learners and thinkers that they are.

I teach at a Title I school where many of my students come from Creole and Spanish speaking households that receive free or reduced lunch.

Despite their home life hardships, my students work hard and do their best to be as successful as possible. They think of school as a fun place where they can 100% be themselves, socialize with their friends, and learn from teachers that care about who they are as a person. They want to be in school because it's a safe haven for them.

My Project

Using computers/laptops is a daily routine for my students. Majority of our exciting and enriching lessons happen with the use of technology. Our district purchased an online program that administers a diagnostic test and then creates a lesson plan geared to their areas of deficiency in reading and math. If I have enough laptops for my students, I can ensure that they get enough online time and in the end it will help them to meet their learning goals for reading and math.

Majority of my students don't have access to the internet or a computer at home; it is imperative that my student have the tools they need in order to be the 21st century learners that they are.

The interactive lessons that I would like to use with my students would serve them best if we had more laptops in the classroom. Students would have more control over the interactive lessons because they no longer would have to share laptops or wait for one to become available. The more technology resources available will help my students tremendously with their digital learning.
