Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a low income school, but we are exceptional in every way. This is our second year with 7 Star Distinction that only four other schools have to earn in Houston Independent School District, which is comprised of 300 schools. Our school was given an A rating by the Houston Chronicle for our success with serving low income student in the Houston area. This shows the dedication that my students have to achieve success in their lives.

I have been able to have 90% of my students to become successful on the 8th grade Math STAAR test despite what other may consider a bad stacked hand.

Most schools in my district have only around 60% pass the 8th grade Math STAAR test. My students been able to overcome low income families, extreme family issues, and negative influences every day. I know that my students want the best for themselves; therefore, I put my best foot forward every day. Hopefully, everyone is able to see that I teach a exceptionable set of students and they need the best education available.

My Project

My students are very inquisitive and want to be fully engaged. I am asking for an iPad and a color printer. I need the technology to help my students be able to explore mathematical topics with true real world examples. These items will also allow me to plan lesson that will take the students on journey, where school becomes more engaging and fun. I have on all levels and I need lesson to meet their needs as well as make learning fun.

My goal this year is to have my student be able to understand why we learn the topics in eight grade and be able to see how they apply in the real world application of their daily lives.

I think that students who enjoy coming to school will enjoy learning.
