My Students

"Using technology inspires student excitement for learning." I teach a class of diverse, energetic, and eager-to-learn 5th graders who love technology. They all come from single-parent homes who struggle to make ends meet; the spark in their eyes when I use any kind of technology tells me they are not used to using these devices at home, hence the need to continuously use technology to drive instruction in order to help them succeed. Since learning remotely is the “new normal” students have become accustomed to using technology to complete their assignments since everything is posted on google classroom. Students are more inclined to complete assignments as long as they have a tablet or laptop in front of them.

My Project

Learning with technology has become the new normal and the new wave of teaching and learning in our schools. No child should have to suffer or feel left out because they don’t have the technology to use in the classroom. Since the pandemic, students have had to complete their learning remotely whether synchronously or asynchronously. If we are preparing our students for college and beyond with 21st-century skills according to the mandates of the Common Core standards, then our students need to learn how to prudently navigate the internet safely and effectively, conduct research in order to successfully complete their writing assignments, and most importantly have access to their OWN device so as to follow the safety protocols in the classroom. It is difficult to revert back to the old way of doing things since we are living in the age of technology with so many student learning styles and preferences. Students will be able to access the various websites using these tablets to practice their reading snd math skills coupled with the ability to complete their assignments online. Technology is a must!!!
