My Students

Our school is a Title I school and serves students in K-8. As a school community, we strive to allow students to advance and explore their leadership and service capacities in both the school and within their community. My 8th-grade students are both general education and students with disabilities who have a diverse set of learning styles and needs. To meet these needs it is crucial to differentiate instruction, provide small group instruction, direct instruction, and opportunities to practice independently.

My students are loving, dedicated, and future leaders!

Many have been in the same class from as early as kindergarten, and they have fostered a strong sense of community and support for one another. They enjoy collaborating with each other and working with groups. This year at our school, for the first time, an ICT class ( both general and special education students) will be sitting for both the Algebra I and Living Environment Regents in June. They have been working extremely hard towards mastery and ultimately passing both exams with a goal of 85% or higher. Passing the regents will provide countless opportunities and place them in an advantage for 9th grade.

My Project

There are many features included in the Chromebook that will allow my students to excel. For example text-to-talk, talk-to text, differentiated learning, and numerous websites, videos and apps that provide personalized Regents prep. Also being in a large classroom with 32 students, the use of technology will support the use of individual stations, and allow for me as a teacher to track growth and plan for individualized intervention as needed.

The use of Chromebooks will allow for both my Special Education and General Education students to engage and access knowledge that will support their learning and help them pass the Regents!
