My Students

My students are hungry, not only for the food in the cafeteria, but also for the lessons in their books. I can bring students a plethora of books through the iPad. I can also have students use the iPads through cooperative group work to complete different projects and tasks.

I teach second graders.

The world they are growing up in is much different then when I was there age. They need to be able to use technology with ease, and have easy access to the technology. My students live in an area that is inundated with technology, but there is very little forward thinking technology in their classroom. I would love to provide my students with opportunities and experiences with technology in meaningful ways.

My Project

I will use the iPads to enhance and strengthen my current ELA, math, science, and social studies curriculum. My students will become stronger reader's by having access to more books and phonic apps. They will become stronger mathematicians by having apps to practice their skills in. And, most importantly, they will become better thinkers and cooperators by using the iPads in group research and projects while investigating science and social studies topics. Sharing tools for learning is as equally as important as the tool, an iPad in this instance, itself.

My students will have a different way of thinking about their learning and gain huge insight into how to cooperate with others while using a technology tool.

The iPad will give my students access to experiences they may not otherwise have through the power (and a bit of magic) of technology.
