My Students

The biggest challenge facing my students is their ability to share their thoughts: sometimes aloud or even on paper. Your donation in conjunction with the iPads they recently received in a grant will allow for greater group work, collaboration and the ability to advance academically for all in room.

My students tend to struggle with academics more than most.

The electronic age is here to stay and this is something they understand better than algebra, history or writing by hand. The materials listed are something the students do understand and make for easier retention and better understanding all around. They also come from a background that at times doesn't allow for access to such technology. So, the endless struggle for typed homework or even written research papers becomes problematic at best, almost non-existent in the worst cases. Even access to the library is troublesome because their parents sometimes work two to three jobs in a day and have only the opportunity directly at dismissal to pick them up.

My Project

The student will use the protectors and cases to ensure that future classes full of similar students are able to continue using the iPads that have been obtained. They will use the keyboards to type as some of them require such help with writing by hand that they need scribes to ensure their work is legible (that disappears on a type-written assignment). Finally, they can use the printers to ensure that the hard work and effort they put forth is visible and tangible for them to share. You would be surprised how just seeing their work displayed instantly changes a student's attitude toward academics and subject matter.

My students want to learn.

You can see it when they walk in the door in September all the way through the last day in June. They seek methods to help themselves grow, but sometimes these methods/materials are unavailable. However, with your help, we can make it available and we can see growth beyond measure in the students, as they will be able to have instant feedback and satisfaction from seeing their hard work posted in room or outside on the board.
