My Students

"I don't know what I want to be when I grow up, am I supposed to know that in high school?" Most students, by the time they reach high school, do not know what they want to pursue in college. They are confused as to what career paths they should take. Please help our students make good choices.

My students are from a New York City public high school.

I work with a special education population of 90 students. They are very motivated by technology. We have one computer in my office for us all to use. I would love to bring more technology into our counseling sessions but because we share one computer it takes to much time.

My Project

The use of the Internet tablets will foster understanding and respect for how school counseling endeavors can advance students' personal, social, career, and academic competencies. We can also utilize computers in our counseling sessions by using the Internet to do a career/college search, using the Internet to fill out job applications with students, take career aptitude testing and scoring online. We can also take the scoring to another level and research job opportunities on the Occupational Outlook Handbook to educate students on the specific training and expectations of jobs. My students love music. At times I provide Relaxation Techniques for them when they are under stress such as final or midterm exams. The relaxing music will provide the soothing students need,

I know with your support only amazing outcomes can be expected.

Many of my students do not have access to computers at home and are unable to do research. Kids are so impacted by the Internet these days I would love the opportunity to show them how to make use of the internet in a positive manner.
