My Students

As a teacher working in a high poverty area, my students are constantly faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. They are subjected to many high risk obstacles that can bring many emotions. Despite their many challenges, I am trying to provide my students with a safe and welcoming space. A space where they are free to learn, grow, create and imagine.

My students have the potential to be creators, inventors and much more.

The students all receive free lunch based on the socioeconomic standings of this city. The school has about eight hundred students and of those students, most come from single parent households, poverty and/or shelter homes. Such difficulties may prevent them from getting ahead in life and progressing to their full potential. Entering my classroom, I focus on who they are and not their challenges. From the moment they walk into the room until the moment they leave, I want to create a positive room that inspires the students to grow, excel and imagine.

My Project

My students need a printer to bring our classroom into the world of technology! The printer will be used on a daily basis for a variety of subjects and purposes. These days the impact of technology in the classroom is huge and I personally believe in student's learning throughout it. Having a printer in our classroom allows for me to print, print outs that can benefit the students learning at the time. It is an extra resource to help their learning.

A classroom printer will allow my students to get on the spot differentiation.

This will guarantee any struggling student a resource that allows me to print what they need on command. It also allows for those students that need to be pushed a chance for challenging resources. I am hoping that by adding such manipulatives into the classroom, my students will grow and benefit greatly.
