This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a speech-language pathologist at an elementary school located in the poorest district of the Bronx. My students enjoy learning though engaging hands-on-activities and through the use of technology during speech therapy. Therefore, I am requesting an iPad to be used as a tool during the their speech-language therapy sessions.

The integration of modern technology during therapy has proven to be a valuable resource in enhancing the effectiveness of treatment plans and improving student outcomes.

Having an iPad would allow access to a wide range of educational apps and software specifically designed for speech-language therapy. These tools facilitate engaging exercises that target areas such as articulation, language comprehension, vocabulary development and cognitive skills. It would enable me to tailor exercises to the specific needs of each each student, tracking progress over time and adjusting interventions in real-time.

With a touch-screen interface, the iPad supports various multisensory learning techniques, which are especially beneficial for my students with different learning styles. This dynamic interaction would help maintain student engagement and enhance the therapy experience.

Many speech-language disorders benefit from visual cues and auditory feedback. The iPad’s versatility would allow me to incorporate both, making the therapy process more comprehensive and effective.

Also, it is a great way to streamline data collection and documentation, allowing for quicker analysis and reporting of my student's progress. This ensures more accurate tracking and informed decision-making regarding treatment plans.

Incorporating an iPad into speech-language therapy sessions will significantly improve upon engagement, facilitate progress, and allow for more personalized therapy. The benefits it brings in terms my students' outcomes, efficiency, and the overall therapy experience makes it a valuable asset.
