My Students

I teach music in a Title I school in South Florida where many students come from low-income households. My population of students includes those who speak English as a second language, students with disabilities, students who are gifted, and everything in between. All of my students need access to a quality music education in order to become the best person they can. I may be their only access to learning about music and teach every student in the school. Music should be a safe place for my students to learn about the world and themselves, and I want them to be engaged in learning by creating music themselves as much as possible.

My Project

There are so many resources available digitally now that can be extremely helpful to students, regardless of what they're trying to learn. I would love to have access to some of these resources in my classroom. One of the great things about tablets is that you have access to the internet and certain websites, as well as the ability to download applications that are useful to students. Funding this project would allow my students the use of all these wonderful programs. This will enhance their learning by helping them practice rhythm, lines and spacing, ear training, and music composition. This will lead to a greater understanding of music and enhance their overall experience.
